As a divorce mediator, I've found over the years that our clients have things they need to do post-mediation that they don't always get done, so we've put in place processes for making sure that there are some follow-ups that go out to them. An example of why this is particularly important is because many of our clients need to get a QDRO (Qualified Domestic Relations Order) drafted to divide their retirement accounts. That is not something that we handle, so in our post-mediation follow-up, we send out a checklist of important items to complete, and we also send out an email 6 and 12 months post-mediation ending that reminds the clients to make sure they've completed the QDRO and any other necessary items.
